(Group) Puppy Socialization & Obedience
This series of classes is great for teaching the puppy bite inhibition, problem solving, basic obedience commands and creating an awesome relationship with your puppy. Positive reinforcement is emphasized. Puppies should be at least 12 weeks of age and have had at least their first vaccinations. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test will be given the last session, if requested.
($150 for 6 weeks)
(Group) Basic
Obedience
This series of classes is great for teaching basic obedience commands, problem solving and creating an awesome relationship with your dog. Positive reinforcement is emphasized. Dogs should be up-to-date on their vaccinations. The Canine Good Citizen test will be given the last class, if requested.
($150 for 5 weeks)
(Group) Advanced Obedience
These classes are great for proofing basic obedience commands, taking the next step towards preparing your dog for numerous dog sports or for therapy volunteering, and creating an awesome relationship with your dog. Positive reinforcement is emphasized. Dogs should be up-to-date on their vaccinations.
($150 for 5 weeks)
(Group) Snake Awareness
This class teaches dogs to recognize and stay away from venomous snakes using positive reinforcement. This approach trains a reliable emergency recall or a specific "snake alert" behavior using markers and rewards when a dog encounters the sight, smell or sound of a snake. The class is offered throughout the year and additionally proofs a more reliable recall in any situation.
(Group)Therapy Dog Class
Have your dog apply advanced obedience skills and learn the additional skills needed to be an excellent Therapy Dog. Cost is for two classes of proofing exercises and scenarios and then three field trips. There is no charge for therapy dog testing and the three observations necessary to become registered through Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Inc.
($90 for 3 classes)
(Private) Board & Train
Have your dog practice and improve basic obedience commands or resolve issues while being boarded at any of the participating kennels in Salida. Sessions last 15 minutes each and there can be up to two sessions per day. Owners are asked to meet prior to the boarding to demonstrate the dog’s current skills and then after boarding to be shown what techniques have been used.
($20 per session plus travel cost)
(Free) Tuesdays Together
Free and open to any dog that has previously taken a dog training class through Laura's Dog Training and whose handler has a basic knowledge of the various agility obstacles. Participation involves practicing the skills of various dog sports such as Agility and Rally and (optionally) working towards various AKC titles. Dogs must be of the appropriate minimal (breed specific) age to safely use the obstacles. A signed waiver on file is mandatory.

(Free) Agility Practice
Free and open to any dog that has previously taken a dog training class through Laura's Dog Training and whose handler has a basic knowledge of the various agility obstacles. Dogs must be of the appropriate minimal (breed specific) age to safely use the obstacles. A signed waiver on file is mandatory.

(Free) Therapy Dog Evaluation
Free and open to any dog-handler team that is appropriately trained and has the appropriate temperaments. Evaluations are performed by one or two of the local Alliance of Therapy Dog Tester/Observers (T/O). The T/O provides constructive and encouraging feedback that helps teams improve their skills and confidence in providing animal-assisted activities or therapy. More information about Alliance of Therapy Dogs can be found on their website. Certified teams are encouraged to join the network of the local Therapy Dogs of Chaffee County.
